The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested the mastermind behind the killing of renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri, who was murdered in a targeted killing in 2016.
A statement issued by the department stated that the accused identified as Hafiz Qasim Rasheed alias Ganja arrested from Patel Para, a locality of Karachi East, and belongs to Laskar-e-Jhangvi.
“To kill Sabri, Qasim Rasheed had gotten assistance from Asim Capari, and Ishaq Bobi who were also found guilty in the murder of four rangers personnel, and two army men, and they had assassinated four in the sectarian killing,” he said.
According to the crime record revealed by the CTD arrested Qasim was recently released from jail and began planning to restart the terror activities, as he had been locked up in serious cases such as the murder of Raza Haider and other terrorism cases.
The accomplices of the accused include Waseem Baroodi, Abdullah, Danish, Hafiz Akhlaq, Parvez, Qari Inayat, and Abdullah Ilyas Timuri.
Spokesman CTD said that the arrested terrorist Qasim Rasheed used to run his network from jail while he was in prison, he has confessed to the murders of Assistant Superintendent Jail Pir Masood, Deputy Superintendent Abdul Razzaq Abbasi, along with security personnel and police officers.
He added that the CTD recovered hand grenades, Pistols, and explosive material, and the police have started an investigation on registered cases against culprits.
