Zadran dedicates award to Afghan refugees expelled from Pakistan

Afghan batter Ibrahim Zadran dedicated his Player of the Match award to the Afghan refugees who were being expelled from Pakistan.

“I want to dedicate this man of the match to that people who are sent from Pakistan to back home Afghanistan,” he said after receiving his POTM award on Monday after defeating Pakistan in their World Cup game.

The Afghan side made history by defeating Pakistan for the first time in the ODI cricket in Monday’s World Cup match in Chennai.

Batting first, Pakistan set a target of 283 over the loss of seven wickets. Skipper Babar Azam made 74 off 92 balls while opening batter Abdullah Shafique also hit a fifty. He scored 58 off 75 balls.

The Afghan side chased the target with the loss of two wickets as their top three hit fifties. Opening batters Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran set up the chase by giving a solid start of 130 to the Afghan side.

Zadran made 87 off 113 balls and was adjudged Play of the Match for his performance.
