Preparations for Nawaz’s welcome rally enter final stage

Preparations for Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s rally to welcome party chief Nawaz Sharif entered final stages on Friday, just a day ahead of his scheduled return to the country.

An 80-feet wide and 40-feet high stage has been set up at the Minar-e-Pakistan in the Greater Iqbal Park in Lahore. A bulletproof cabin has also been installed on the stage for Nawaz Sharif.

Organisers have claimed that 40,000 chairs have been placed in the venue, and the number could increase by the time the rally begins.

The party is expecting large numbers of party workers to arrive in the rally from all over Punjab. Party workers have already started arriving at the venue.

The rally is scheduled to begin at 4 pm on Saturday and Nawaz’s speech is expected around 9 pm in the evening.

The district administration has already told the PMLN that it will have to manage the venue’s security on its own.
