The incidents of stone pelting on Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses continue to increase as the administration is unable to identify outlaws due to the unavailability of CCTV footage.
The service which began in 2020 was destroyed by citizens, according to the administration, the glasses of over a hundred buses were broken by unknown people in places where no CCTV cameras were installed.
Approximately, five to ten incidents of pelted stones were reported in a month. Talking about the price of the front and window glasses of the bus — worth Rs50,000 to Rs100,000 respectively— officials said it’s too expensive.
Peshawar residents also expressed anger over the inappropriate practices of culprits and tried to make them understand that the project was started for the people and such actions can cause those in loss who use the service BRT.
However, the administration decided to book and impose penalties on those who would be found involved in such practices.
