Famous Afghan cricket star Rashid Khan said on Sunday that he will donate the money he receives for the Cricket World Cup 2023 to the victims of the earthquakes that struck his homeland.
Khan wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that he will also launch a fundraising campaign to call upon those who can support those affected by the disaster.
According to the latest information, more than 2,000 people have died in the 6.3 magnitude earthquakes that hit western Afghanistan on Saturday. More than 1,200 others were wounded and rescue teams are still searching for survivors.
This is the largest earthquake that Afghanistan experienced in decades. Last year, more than 1,000 people died in a similar tremor in the country’s eastern province of Paktika.
