JI announces sit-in against inflation in Karachi

The Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a sit-in at the Sindh Governor’s House on October 8 against hiked utility bills and rising inflation.

“JI will begin its sit-in at Governor’s House on October 8 and JI Chief Sirajul Haq will lead the protest,” JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said during a briefing at the Idara Noor-e-Haq on Saturday.

He said that the provincial government failed to implement the decision taken in the National Action Plan.

“A committee was constituted for the development of Karachi which included PPP, MQM, and PTI. We knew from the beginning that they did not have the will or an execution capability. Corruption was also a big factor resulting in failing to execute plans,” he added.

Further, Rehman said that the education system has been deteriorating across the province as the provincial government is not giving grants to varsities and all burden is passed on to the students.

He called for providing education to the residents in the underprivileged areas of the city, saying that mafias get raw materials from such areas as they are underserved and lack accessibility to essential items.
