Abbasi meets PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in London

PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met with party leader Nawaz Sharif in London on Tuesday, according to media reports, as his colleagues hint at the possibility of a new political party ahead of the general elections to be held in January next year.

“I had a discussion on country’s matters with Nawaz,” he told reporters in London. “I have an old association with Nawaz.”

Abbasi, who was booted from PML-N’s top echelons earlier this year, said that he was not convinced about the welcome. He was speaking about Nawaz who is expected to return to Pakistan on October 21.

He clarified that he has no reservations with any party leader and he was not part of discussions related to the party supremo’s return.

When asked, the PML-N leader said that it was the responsibility of the government to take action against people involved in the May 9 events.

He added that the party would make a decision on the ministry if it won the elections.

Earlier this month, Abbasi said that a new political party would be formed in Pakistan amid the prevailing situation.

“This is a reality that amid today’s situation in Pakistan an effective political party will be formed,” he said in an interview with Geo News show Capital Talk. “Only time will tell who will form the party.”
