A musical concert in Kalam Valley of Swat was canceled due to local people’s protest.

The canceled musical concert was scheduled to be held at a local hotel on October 6, 7, 8, while the concert was to feature famous Pashto singers.

Zahid, the organizer of the Kalam concert, told Aaj News that this event is not only a music concert, various games will also be presented in the program, while the concert will be organized in consultation with local elders.

Local people strongly opposed it on social media and termed the concert against Pashtun traditions.

Earlier in a day, in another event local elders and residents stopped a cricket match being played between two women’s teams in the Charbagh area of district Swat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In the past, a lot of performances and musical events became the centre of controversy when it faced backlashes and forced bans in Swat.

However, the community, strongly opposed the move and backed singing and dancing as the cultural activities in the region.
