FIA arrests travel agent providing Umrah visa for begging

The Federal Investigation Bureau arrested a travel agent’s assistant on Monday who was allegedly involved in sending 16 Pakistanis to Saudi Arabia for begging.

The arrested accused identified as Rab Nawaz provided the Umrah visa to 16 individuals including a family with a kid for begging.

On November 29, the FIA offloaded all 16 from the flight going Saudi Arabia and began a probe against them.

The visa holders told the officials that three agents had arranged their accommodation in Saudi Arabia.

An official of FIA said that the accused persuaded at least two people Mujahid and Tanveer Abbas to beg in Saudi Arabia and arranged visas for them.

Previously arrested sixteen members had told FIA that the agents would receive 50% amount they would collect in begging.

FIA officials said that their Multan circle was conducting raids to arrest other accused.

On September 27, a Senate meeting had been briefed that 90% of beggars who were arrested in foreign countries were Pakistanis.

Senator Rana Mehmood-ul-Hasan said that the Iraqi ambassador says that Pakistan sends habitual criminals to Iraq who fill their jails.
