Interim Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani departed for China on Monday where he will particiapate in the third Himalaya forum.
Sources said Jilani will meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi while attending the forum.
The visit is significant as it comes after Pakistan and China celebrated 10 years of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. More cooperation regarding the project could also come up in the meeting.
He could also meet Afghan Foreign Minister Mulla Ameer Muttaqi. It would be the first engagement between the two ministers since Afghanistan stepped up efforts to stop Tehreek-e-Taliban fighters from using its territory.
The forum will also host foreign ministers from other south east Asian countries including Bangladesh and Bhutan and more meetings could take place on the sidelines.
