The Punjab government has backpedalled on an earlier decision to investigate violence against the Christian community in Jaranawala town. A provincial cabinet meeting under Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi decided on Friday that no joint investigation team (JIT) would be formed to look into the issue.
Naqvi presided over the emergency meeting of the Punjab cabinet where an inquiry report on the Jaranwala violence case was submitted.
The Punjab cabinet has also approved the creation of more Tehsils in Lahore and a special committee will be formed for the establishment of new districts.
While commenting upon the pink eye infection, Naqvi said it’s a growing outbreak of conjunctivitis and only a decision about school closure would reduce the intensity.
The Caretaker Chief Minister announced that all schools in Punjab, including Lahore would remain closed till Monday.
The proactive measure was aimed at preventing the spread of the highly contagious eye infection among students.
