Marriyum, Latif summoned on Sept 30 in provocative speeches case

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has summoned PML-N leaders Marriyum Aurangzeb and Javed Latif on September 30 in a case pertaining to provocative speeches case.

ATC judge Abher Gul Khan issued the order while hearing the case on Saturday.

The case rejected the discharge report submitted by the police and summoned Aurangzeb and Latif on September 30.

On September 14, 2022, a terrorism case was registered against Aurangzeb and Latif in Lahore for allegedly “using religion to instil and spread hatred” against PTI chief Imran Khan.

The first information report was filed by a citizen at Green Town Police Station in Lahore. The FIR was lodged under sections 9 (punishment for acts intended or likely to stir up sectarian hatred) and 11X-3 (responsibility for creating civil commotion) of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The complaint said the press conference was shown on national television.

The copy of the FIR was shared by former Punjab home minister Col (retd) Muhammad Hashim. The complainant said he came across a press conference of Latif on Sept 14 in which he hurled disturbing accusations at Imran in the name of religion.
