The security forces arrested two members of the outlawed TTP who were involved in extorting money from people on the orders of an Afghanistan-based commander of the banned group.
In their statement to the agencies, the suspects confirmed the presence of the outlawed TTP commander Abdul Raziq in Afghanistan, saying that he was leading the network of extortion money.
Raziq would give instructions to the members on who to target and would ask for videos and photos of people’s houses and shops, which would later be used to threaten them, they said. The TTP commander would make the calls from an Afghan cell, to protect himself from being tracked by the security agencies.
Sindh’s Caretaker Minister for Home & Prison Brig (Retd) Haris Nawaz told Aaj News that Pakistan is currently facing several problems which have been aggravated further.
He called on the interim government of Afghanistan to cooperate with Pakistan to bring peace to the region.
