Eyedrops shortage exacerbates conjunctivitis crisis in Lahore

After the spread of the pink eye disease in Lahore, the city is experiencing a shortage of medicines and a significant increase in their prices, especially those used for conjunctivitis and dengue. These medicines are now being sold at double their previous prices.

Pharmacists are attributing the shortages to alleged price hike tactics by pharmaceutical companies. They also mentioned that medications like Tobradex and Tear Naturale are not available at pharmacies due to the increased demand.

People of Lahore are expressing frustration and concern over the medicine crisis, stating that they are unable to find common medications like eye drops and Panadol.

The health ministry, meanwhile, has rejected reports of shortage.

In a related development, in Lahore, the prices of medicines used to treat heart diseases, brain conditions, high blood pressure, diabetes, and respiratory issues have surged by 50 per cent.
