A highly wanted dacoit was killed by the police in an encounter in the kaccha area of Ghotki on Tuesday. The dacoit had dozens of cases filed against him, including the killings of policmen, and had been recently booked for abducting a Hindu businessman.
A statement from SSP Munir Khoro said that the dacoit, named Yasin Shar, was killed in the Ronti area of the kaccha.
Police said that Shar was wanted in 45 cases registered in Kashmore, Ghotki and Rahim Yar Khan. There was a prize of Rs5 million on his head.
The charges against Shar included abductions as well as the murders of five policemen. Khoro said that the officials who had killed Shar would be given certificates of appreciation.
The encounter comes two days after Shar was reported to be involved in the adbuction of Ranjeet Kumar, a Hindu businessman, from Ghotki.
Eyewitnesses has reported that six armed men on two motorcycles had beat up Kumar and taken him with them.
After reports that Kumar had been taken to the kaccha, police had established check points on the paths leading to the area to search for the crominals.
On the same day, an encounter had led to Kumar being recovered, while one dacoit was taken into custody after being injured. His partners had managed to escape. Shar was killed in another encounter on Tuesday.
