Ranipur maid murder: Fatima died of head, chest wounds

Fatima Firoro, whose lifeless body was found at the haveli of an influential pir in Ranipur in early August, died of head and chest injuries, sources said on Saturday.

The postmortem report of the murdered maid has been completed which will be handed over to the police in the evening today or tomorrow (Sunday), they added. Meanwhile, SSP Khairpur Sami Ullah Soomro said that the police have not received the report.

Fatima, 10, was found dead on August 13 in Asad Shah’s mansion in the Ranipur taluka of Khairpur district. Initial reports claimed she was killed and that marks of torture were found on her body.

She worked as a maid in Shah’s house and was buried without a post-mortem examination. Her body was later exhumed for a post-mortem examination where police said that she was raped before she died.

The prime suspect Asad Shah was booked in a first information report, invoking sections 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 302 (punishment of qatl-i-amd) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

It was later reported that the prime suspect was part of the dark web.

“There are some reports that Asad Shah is a member of the dark web,” the victim’s lawyer Mir Imtiaz Memon told reporters outside the court. “These people make and upload videos of child abuse and he records videos and sells them to the dark web.”
