A police constable was shot and killed at his house in Gujrat. Police said that the death was a result of personal enmity.
The constable has been identified as 35-year-old Babar Shehzad who was a resident of village Saman Pindi. The area falls under the jurisdiction of Industrial State police station.
The deceased constable was serving at the judicial guard in Kharian.
A statement from Gujrat DPO Ahmad Nawaz said that Shehzad was attacked and killed over a land dispute.
The constable had been embroiled in a conflict with his uncle, identified as Imtiaz, for a while.
Police reached the scene soon after the murder was reported. DSP Saddar and SHO Industrial State were among the police contingent that arrived in Saman Pindi to investigate. Punjab Forensic Science Agency has also collected evidence from the area.
DPO Nawaz said that the FIR of the incident was being registered and that the police would ensure justice for the slain constable.
