Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar has directed to consult the federal government to extend the route of Green Line to Merewether Clock Tower and Pakistan Chowk of Karachi.
Baqar presided over a meeting of the Transport & Mass Transit Department on Wednesday where he was briefed about the project development across the province.
During the meeting, the provincial secretary of transport said that the Peoples’ Bus Service along with the Pink Bus Service, Green Line and Orange Line are operational in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana.
The department is working on the Karachi Urban Mobility Project while a plan is under consideration to extend the reach of Red Line to Merewether Tower near Native Jetty Bridge.
The interim CM said that the Green Line project will be handed over to the federal government in 2024. He said that the centre should be consulted for the extension of the project and directed the expansion of the Orange Line corridor.
Baqar was informed that Chinese officials will inspect the development on Karachi Circular Railway in the next month on which he called for preparing a presentation after solving all the issues of the KCR.
