Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has predicted that the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 will be played between Pakistan and Australia.
In a YouTube video alongside former England captain Michael Vaughan and the former Australian wicket-keeper batter Adam Gilchrist, he subbed India which will host the World Cup.
During the interaction, he also recalled one instance when he copped heat from Indian fans after he predicted that Australia would score 370 runs and bowl out India on 65 in their World Cup match.
“As you can imagine, my social media messages were absolutely blowing up… with Indian cricket fans and I am not sure they quite got my sarcasm but I copped a bit of heat for that,” he said.
Pakistan currently holds the top spot in ODI ranking followed by Australia.
The multilateral tournament will begin with champions England taking on New Zealand on October 5 at the world’s biggest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad, which will also host the final.
The Board for Control of Cricket in India came under severe criticism owing to the continuous rescheduling of matches. Several matches were rescheduled as Indian authorities cited many reasons including security and logistics issues.
