JUI-F chief Fazl blames PPP for delay in elections

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has blamed the PPP for the delay in elections, alleging that the former Sindh-ruling party deviated from the plan.

“At the last moment, the PPP deviated from the decision,” he told reporters in Lahore while speaking about the elections.

“MQM, Akhtar Mengal, and others had unanimously decided to hold elections. But the PPP at the moment stressed on the no-confidence motion. Elections could be held then if the PPP had not deviated from the promise.”

The JUI-F chief was speaking about the no-trust motion tabled against former prime minister Imran Khan in 2022. Khan was ousted from his office in April 2022.

He alleged that the PTI was brought to power to make the country economically weaken.

Election was important in the prevailing situation, Fazl said and added that it was difficult to run election campaigns in the tribal areas.

There was no concept of interim setup in democratic countries, he added.
