Strict security arrangements have been made across the country as the chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) is observed on Thursday.
In Karachi, the main procession will be begin at Nishtar Park at 1 pm.
The route of the procession has been sealed with containers and shops along the route have also been closed. Green Line Bus operations will also be suspended for the day and educational institutes will remain closed.
A total of 4,422 police officials including 80 senior officers will be on duty throughout the city to guard the procession.
In addition, 850 traffic police officials will be on duty to make sure that the traffic diverted from the procession’s route runs smoothly.
In Punjab, 30,000 police officials are on duty to ensure that processions and majalis proceed with safety.
A total of 378 processions and 677 majalis are being organised across the province.
The police is montoring the procession routes continuously through safe city cameras and control rooms. Snipers and lady police officials are also on duty.
The police is also faced with the additional concern of providing safety to people arriving in Lahore for the urs of Data Ganj Bakhsh.
