The Pakistani embassy in United States has clarified that the news of visas being denied to Pakistanis settled in America are completely false.

A statement by the embassy’s spokesperson said that the visas are being issued regularly.

The spokesperson said that Pakistani citizens in American can visit their home country on their NICOPs and can also travel on visas.

The statement comes hours after a Pakistani journalist, Jalil Afridi, raised the matter in a State Department press briefing.

Afridi told Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel about claims that visas were being denied to Pakistani Americans and asked if State Department was aware of any such claims.

Patel replied that he was not aware of any such thing but even if it was, it would be a matter for Pakistani consular officials to speak on.
