Wet weather could impact Asia Cup schedule

The organising body was considering moving Asia Cup games in the Super Four round away from the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, ESPNcricinfo reported.

The sports news outlet claimed that officials from the Sri Lanka Cricket and the Pakistan Cricket Board have confirmed to them that they were looking at alternative venues in Sri Lanka where rain was not forecast after seeing that the highly-anticipated contest between Pakistan and India ended in a washout.

The ACC and the broadcaster Disney Star have started fresh conversations after the washout of the Pakistan-India clash in Pallekele.

The Khettarama ground is scheduled to host five Super Four games and the final between September 6 and 17.

The sports media outlet reported that an alternative issue was also an issue for the organisers, adding that India was not satisfied with the hotel accommodation facilities in Dambulla. According to the Sri Lankan cricket officials, work was ongoing on the stadium floodlights.

Moreover, broadcasters also seemed to be reluctant to split the remaining games across two venues as transporting equipment would make it difficult for them.
