PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh was re-arrested on Thursday after an anti-terrorism court in Karachi granted him bail in a case. The police took him away after taking him into custody from outside the anti-terrorism court.
A case was registered against him on Wednesday for allegedly interfering in state affairs.
Sheikh got relief after the ATC rejected the police’s request to send him to jail for remand. The court ordered his release after the decision.
His arrest comes a day after a special court on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of PTI Chairman Imran Khan till September 13 in the cipher case.
A video shared by Sheikh on his social media platform showed him in a police van where he was showing a victory sign. “Justice will prevail,” he said as the police took him away.
He was arrested on Wednesday from outside the Sindh High Court after he arrived at the court seeking injunction to prevent his possible arrest.
Sheikh was among the PTI leaders nominated in cases after the May 9 riots for allegedly facilitating attacks on public and private properties and causing terror.
