Pakistan thrash Nepal by 238 runs in Asia Cup opener

**Pakistan beat Nepal by 238 runs in the opening match of the Asia Cup in Multan on Monday.88

Pakistan posted 342 runs for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs against Nepal. In response, Nepal were bowled out for 104 in 23.4 overs.

Skipper Babar Azam scored 151 of 131 deliveries while Iftikhar Ahmed remained not out at 109 of 71 deliveries.

Pakistan lost its opening pair in a quick session after adding 25 runs to the total in 6.1 overs while batting first after skipper Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bat first against Nepal.

Fakhar Zaman was the first to fall in the innings as he was caught behind the stumps in the sixth over. He scored 14 runs off 20 balls, which brought Babar Azam to the crease.

Zaman was followed by his batting partner Imam-ul-Haq, who was run out without managing to reach a double-digit score. He added five runs to the total. Wicket-keeping batter Muhammad Rizwan then joined his skipper.

The Pakistani playing-11 consists of Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Iftikhar Ahmed, Agha Salman, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf.

For Nepal, Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh (wk), Rohit Paudel (c), Aarif Sheikh, Kushal Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee, Gulsan Jha, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane and Lalit Rajbanshi are playing.
