PTI approaches court to bar authorities from arresting Khan in other cases

Just before the verdict on the Toshakhana criminal case, PTI Chairman Imran Khan has filed a plea seeking Islamabad High Court to bar authorities from arresting him in another case.

Khan’s legal aid Salman Safdar filed the plea at the IHC which is about to give a verdict on the PTI chief’s sentence by a district and session court in the Toshakhana criminal case.

Khan is currently serving his term at the Attock jail after he was convicted by a district and session court on August 5 after it found him of corrupt practices.

The police arrested him from his residence in Lahore and moved him to the jail.

It is pertinent to mention that the Supreme Court of Pakistan found ‘flaws’ in the Islamabad sessions court judgement against PTI Chief Imran Khan that led to his sentencing and imprisonment. However, it decided against intervening immediately.

The top court heard a host of petitions filed by Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case on August 23. One of the pleas challenged the sessions court judgment and another called into question the decisions of the Islamabad High Court.
