Javeline star Arshad Nadeem laments Pakistan lacks global standard facilities

Pakistan’s javelin star Arshad Nadeem has lamented that Pakistan lacked international standard facilities as he stressed the need for better facilities to have good results in mega-events.

“Pakistan does not have international standard facilities, so athletes should enter the field with better facilities and coaching staff,” he told reporters in Lahore after winning a silver medal at the World Athletics Championship.

Nadeem made history at the event by winning Pakistan’s first medal at the biennial track and field spectacle. His performance showed that he could end Pakistan’s long Olympic medal drought.

The members of Punjab Sports Board gave him a rousing welcome upon his return.

World javelin throw champion Neeraj ‘very happy’ to see Arshad’s performance

He shared that he was practising in the Asia Games and added that he would try his best to show his best performance at the Olympics in Paris this year.

Nadeem threw the javelin 87.82 metres at the World Athletics Championships on August 27, falling short of a few meters that could have earned him the gold medal.

India’s Neeraj Chopra had set the bar with his first legitimate throw on the second attempt when he threw the javelin 88.17 metres.

Nadeem has also qualified for the Paris Olympics with a massive throw of 86.79m in his third attempt in the qualifying rounds of the event.
