The Pakistan Cricket Board unveiled the national cricket team’s kit for the World Cup, which will be played in India in October this year. The kit has been named ‘Star Nation Jersey’.
“It is a great moment that we are having the opening ceremony of the kit and hopefully this time the national flag and star symbol is added to it,” PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf said at the ceremony in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
The 50-over World Cup would begin in the neighbouring country on October 5. England would be defending its title on a soil favourable to South Asian teams.
The ‘Star Nation Jersey’ signified more than a mere piece of apparel; it embodies the profound connection between Pakistan’s cricketing heroes and their steadfast supporters, according to the PCB.
“Drawing inspiration from celestial bodies, each star symbolises brilliance, aspiration, and the radiant glow of cricketing achievements. This design philosophy encapsulates the spirit of cricketing excellence, resonating deeply with every Pakistani cricket enthusiast,” it said.
“Hopefully, this will be the reason for the World Cup glory,” Ashraf said and highlighted the national team’s recent feat. The Babar Azam-led side has topped the world ODI rankings.
He prayed that the country may win the Asia Cup and World Cup.
When asked, Ashraf confirmed that the chairman and vice chairman of BCCI were coming to Pakistan. He added that prior announcements were not made due to updates on the visa issuance. Nepal cricket president was also due to come.
He was hopeful that the team would earn a big name for the country as it was gelled.
Fans can pre-order the Star Nation Jersey on the PCB’s official online store, shop.pcb.com.pk.
Ashraf in the PCB statement described the jersey as an enduring bond between cricketers and the passionate fans. “This jersey encapsulates our rich cricketing heritage and the luminous future that awaits.”
Usman Waheed, the commercial director, said that the each star on the jersey represented the unwavering support of fans and the radiant legacy of cricketing heroes. “Every detail has been meticulously crafted to ensure that donning this jersey will instill profound pride in every Pakistani.”
