Maid torture case: Doctors to apply modern dressing on Rizwana’s wounds

The team of plastic surgeons on Monday will apply modern dressing on the back wounds of Rizwana, a minor maid allegedly tortured by a civil judge’ wife.

The team lead Prof Dr Romana said that the medical condition of the minor maid does not allow for hours long surgery. The surgeons will apply modern dressing on her bank wounds, she added.

Rizwana continues to be treated in Lahore’s General Hospital where a medical board is looking after her well being.

Dr Romana said that Rizwana’s head wounds are deep which will be examined today (Monday). The skin grafting process will be initiated after the healing of head wounds, she stated.

The surgeons have operated flap surgery of the minor maid’s shoulder, she said while Rizwana was being moved to the operation theater for the modern dressing of her wounds which will take four hours.

After being admitted to the hospital, doctors revealed she had 15 wounds on her body including a wound on the head. The medical board report also added that her internal organs had also sustained damage. It was later reported that she was also poisoned.

Later, a case was filed against the civil judge’s wife in Islamabad for allegedly beating up a minor house help and keeping her confined against her will.

On August 1, a district and sessions court in Islamabad approved the interim bail of Somia Asim, till August 7 in the maid torture case. She was accused of beating and torturing her 13-year-old maid.

Somia was arrested from the court premises on August 7 after a district and sessions court rejected her bail plea in the maid torture case and ordered the police to take her into custody.
