Briefings and orders galore as cabinet takes charge

Members of the newly formed interim cabinet started taking charge on Friday, with some members issuing sweeping orders immediately.

Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti ordered a ban on issuing weapon licenses in the country after taking charge of office.

Information Minister Murtaza Solangi, apart from addressing a press conference, issued orders to a meeting of media chiefs that content in regional languages should be given the same amount of importance and air time as Urdu and English content.

Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar paid a visit to the Federal Board of Revenue on her first day at work. After receving a briefing about the board’s targets for the ongoing fiscal year, she instructed officials to meet the outlined targets.

Energy Minister Muhammad Ali chaired a high-level committee meeting as soon as he took charge. He also received a briefing about the challenges faced by the power sector and ordered that general plan be devloped for effective work in the power sector.

Education Minister Madad Ali Sindhi was also given a briefing about the minitry’s role and responsibilities. Sindhi remarked that he wanted to understand the complexities of the education sector and wanted to bring about a change in the sector in his brief tenure.
