Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial questioned who could possibly be the competitor if Intelligence bureau was running a housing society. Justice Athar Minullah said that apparently, FIA and IB involved in land grabbing. How FIA can use its name for a private business.
A three-member bench led by CJP Bandial heard the petition pertaining to the forensic audit of housing societies.
CJP said in his remarked that FIA reviewed the report which depicts the estimated loss of Rs175 billion, but explanation has not been taken from the societies.
Justice Athar Minullah asked that how FIA can do private business, wasn’t a collapse of interests? FIA were facing charges of land grapping and IB apparently involved in confiscating lands as well.
He added that such institutes have responsibility to serve for the public instead for running housing societies.
CJP asked that who would be competitor, if IB will have housing society? We were not hearing the matter regarding housing societies of government entities but Suo-moto can be taken.
He added that it would have to be seen whether suo-motu should be taken or not. It would better if we will have a petition. “We were preventing to take suo-motu notice, because its meant to protect public interest.”
The court adjourned the petition for an indefinite period.
