Karachi police kill five suspected robbers who broke into house

At least five suspected robbers were killed in an exchange of fire with the police in North Karachi’s Sector Eleven B area on Wednesday. Two managed to flee from the scene.

“According to initial information, the suspects arrived at the crime scene in a white colour vehicle,” SSP Maroof Usman told reporters. “Two accomplices of the suspects escaped with the car.”

Details regarding the vehicle were obtained.

Three out of the five suspects killed were identified as Painda Khan, Abdullah, and Imran. The police have found the criminal record of Painda and Abdullah. Various cases were registered against them in different police stations but they have so far not found a record of the third suspected dacoit.

The other two robbers could not be identified.

The robbery took place in the wee hours of Wednesday, Sir Syed Police Station SHO said.

Affected person’s ordeal

“Five robbers entered my house after cutting the grill of one of the rooms,” Anwarul Hassan told reporters. It was his brother’s room.

He claimed that the suspected robbers tied the hands and feet of his brother and took his sister-in-law upstairs. They barged into the TV lounge and looted the room. He added that the suspected robbers beat him after there was a commotion in the room.

Anwar accused the suspects of torturing him and his family members. “My parents were locked in the room. I fainted and started making noise, victim. When the sound of the noise reached the neighbourhood, the people dialled 15 [police helpline],” he said.

The accused had looted jewellery, cash, laptops, and other valuables when the police reached the crime scene, the affected person said and added that some items were missing.
