PM Shehbaz expected to leave for London for wife’s treatment

Outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to leave for London in the next few days for her ailing wife’s treatment, sources within the family told Aaj News.

Nusrat Shehbaz is admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital for the past six days, they added. The outgoing prime minister would accompany her wife to the United Kingdom capital.

Shehbaz is expected to meet his brother and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif during his visit.

It merits here to mention that Shehbaz would be given a farewell guard of honour on August 14. Caretaker prime minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar would take the oath of office on Monday.

Nusrat, Shehbaz, and their son Hamza Shehbaz were acquitted in an Rs8 billion money laundering reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau on July 20, 2023.

A Lahore accountability court, which announced the judgement, had also issued instructions to unfreeze the properties of all of the acquitted individuals.

In a petition before the accountability court in 2021, Shehbaz’s petition said that his wife was a known chronic patient of a number of serious ailments, including cardiac issues. She had to go abroad in early 2019 for health reasons and since then she was stuck there for medical treatment.
