PTI chief Khan to spend more days in Attock jail

PTI Chairman Imran Khan will spend more days in Attock Jail after the Islamabad High Court did not give him relief and only allowed him to meet his lawyers and family members.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq issued the written order according to which the PTI chairman would spend the next two days in Attock jail, including Independence Day.

The court directed the jail superintendent to allocate one or more than one day for meetings with Khan.

The PTI chief’s lawyer Naeem Panjutha said that the family and friends have been allowed to meet Khan. However, these meetings are also the prerogative of the jail authorities, he added.

Panjutha stated that the order was issued on Saturday when the meeting time was over, while no decision has been taken regarding the provision of safe food for the PTI chairman.

It is pertinent to mention that the former prime minister had demanded that he be allowed to order food from home.

Former first lady Bushra Bibi on August 10 met her husband and Imran Khan in Attock jail. The meeting came after the IHC on August 8, allowed Imran Khan’s lawyers to meet him while refraining from making a final decision on the provision of A-class jail facilities.

The judgment read that there is nothing in the rules which prevents a prisoner from meeting his family more than once a week.

The IHC directed the jail authorities to arrange the PTI chief’s meeting with his friends, relatives and lawyers.

The court also ordered to provide a prayer mat and Quran with an English translation and appropriate medical facilities to Khan.
