Days after his arrest, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and his spouse’s phones have been sent for forensic examination on Friday, sources said.
They went on to add that the police confiscated two mobile phones and a satellite phone when the police arrived at Khan’s residence in Lahore on August 5 to arrest him after he was slapped with a five-year disqualification and three-year prison term in the Toshakhana criminal case.
The data recovered from the phones will help in filing charges against the former prime minister in various cases in which investigations are underway.
The latest development came soon after reports emerged that the personal diary of former first lady Bushra Bibi has fallen into the hands of law enforcement agencies.
The diary reportedly revealed PTI’s plans to mount pressure on the judiciary, establishment and government.
TV host and columnist Javed Chaudhry claimed he had seen the diary himself. It contains several entries about a “Mamo” (uncle), which is probably a reference to Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, he said speaking to private-run Samaa TV.
The entries in the diary being attributed to Bushra Bibi suggest she used to give what is being dubbed as “political dictation” to the PTI chairman.
Reports aired on TV channels said the diary detailed plans to mount pressure on the government, the establishment, and the judiciary.
She was making decisions on the political strategy of the PTI and Khan was following her instructions, the reports claim. “The former prime minister was under complete control of Bushra Bibi.”
There are plans about locking down the city and discussion about the governor’s rule.
