Dozens of lady health workers blocked the National Highway N5 at Hala on Thursday disrupting traffic between Karachi and Islamabad.

A large number of vehicles including buses travelling from Karachi to Islamabad and Peshawar were stranded on the road between Hyderabad and Saeedabad.

Travellers faced long delays and waited for the authorities to reopen the road.

The protesters demanded to be given permanent employment status. The local authorities held talks with them and successfully persuaded them to end the blockage by the afternoon.
