Maid torture case: Rizwana asks for a doll in all her innocence

“She was in a lot of pain and badly battered and injured. Her head aching immensely. However when we asked her if she wanted anything… Her eyes lit up and she said in a weak voice, almost excited with a beautiful shy smile, ‘Guriya chahiyay,’” actor Nadia Jamil wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter after meeting Rizwana and her mother.

She went on to add that Rizwana, an underaged housemaid allegedly tortured by a civil judge’s wife, is badly injured and going through severe pain.

Nadia refused to share any photos of the child but to only describe her condition. She was accompanied by Sarah Ahmad, chairperson of Child Protection and Welfare Bureau during her visit to the hospital, as per her tweet.

Currently under treatment at the Lahore’s General Hospital, Rizwana, 13, was allegedly brutally tortured by a civil judge’ wife Somia at the Zarta Housing Society.

She was working at a salary of Rs10,000 per month.

The initial medical report said that she had 15 wounds on her body including a wound on the head. It also added that her internal organs had also sustained damage. It was later reported that she was also poisoned.

The actor said that Rizwana had told her that she had been beaten up hard. “Bohot maraa mujhay baji, Bohot maraa” she quoted the underaged maid as saying.

“I can imagine her day dreaming about the toys and food she saw being given to the rich kids around her. She is after all, just a child, and she wants to heal, wants to play, wants to smile. Please let’s protect that smile! PLEASE,” Nadia said.

“Seeing her smile has calmed my heart, but seeing her injuries shattered it,” she added.
