Snooker champion breaks down infront of Wahab Riaz

Former snooker champion Ahsan Ramzan broke down in tears as he saw Punjab sports advisor Wahab Riaz after his arrest.

Riaz along with information minister Amir Mir, CCPO Lahore Bilal Kamyana and Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited Ramzan as a show of solidarity on Friday.

However, Ramzan broke down in tears when embraced by Riaz and had to be consoled by Mir. Ramzan also vented his heart out about the treatment he was given by the police.

Riaz promised to raise the matter of closure of snooker clubs with the government. Ramzan demanded that snooker clubs remain open for practice late at night like cricket facilities.

CCPO Kamyana said that he had ordered a report on the incident which should be presented to him by Saturday. He promised that action would be taken against those repsonsible.

Ramzan was taken into custody by the Green Town police after they raided a club for keeping it open late. The former snooker champion was practicing for the national championship.

He was released after one of his friends came to the police station.

“Little did I know that I would be humiliated in my own country,” he had said.

Ramzan won the World Amateur Snooker World Championship in 2020.
