Pakistan rose to the top spot in the World Test Championship standings after England and Australia points were deducted from their tally due to a slow over-rate in the Ashes series.
“Pakistan have made a perfect start to the 2023-25 campaign with a point percentage of 100 after their clean sweep against Sri Lanka,” said the International Cricket Council in a blog on Wednesday.
The Babar Azam-led side whitewash Sri Lanka last month as they dominated the hosts with a thumping innings victory in the second Test.
India were following them in the second spot with 66.66%. Rohit Sharma’s men have a win and a draw against their name after their series against West Indies.
England were docked 19 points and Australia 10 points as a penalty for slow over-rate across the series as they fell further down the WTC25 standings.
Under the revised regulations, they were fined five per cent of their match fee and one WTC point for every over short.
