The Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz have finalised a list of candidates for the post of caretaker prime minister that are acceptable for both parties.
Negotiations are continuing between the two parties on a delegation level with PPP being represented by Naveed Qamar, Yousaf Raza Gillani and Khursheed Shah. The PML-N is represented by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Asif.
The two parties had exchanged a list of names in the previous sitting that was then communicated to Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari. The party heads are expected to make the final decision.
The parties will now try to decide a final list of three names by the next week which will then be shared with other allied parties.
The three names will then be floated to the opposition leader who will bring three names of his own.
On the other hand, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah told Geo News that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s name was never in consideration for the post of caretaker PM.
He added that it could have been a ‘rumour’.
Sanaullah said that the two parties were currently discussing if the candidate could be a bureaucrat or a politician. He added that if the party leaderships decided that the caretaker PM should be a politician, then many names could be considered including Ishaq Dar.
