A man imprisoned on allegations of rape was granted bail after the accuser admitted in court that she framed him in exchange for payment.
Sidra, who had alleged she was raped by a man named Noman in Islamabad’s Trail 3, told a district and sessions court on Tuesday that she had made a fake claim in return for Rs150,000.
Following her statement, the court released Noman on bail against surety bonds worth Rs5,000.
The court also ordered that a case be filed against Sidra and her accomplices for the fake allegation.
Sidra had made her initial claim by filing a case on July 14 in Islamabad. However, the police had later said that she was not cooperating with the invesitgation.
It later emerged that Noman had quarrel with his colleague Anwar, who had hired a group of four people to frame him in revenge. The group included Saima, Dr Sidra Ismail, Shakeel, and Manzoor.
Sidra, who was a Sheikhupura resident, had come to Islamabad to frame Noman and both had gone on a trip to Trail 3.
The group had planned that Sidra would pretend to scream in pain while the rest of the group made videos.
However, the plan did not go through completely and Sidra later returned to Rawalpindin and later filed an FIR.
“This is a group that blackmails people by deceiving them. They take extortion from them,” said a police statement.
