Indian boy dies of apparent suicide after imitating YouTube video

A boy died of apparent suicide in India after imitating what he saw in a YouTube video.

Uday was an 11-year-old student of Class 6 in Siricilla town of Indian state Telengana. News reports said that he had a ‘habit’ of watching funny videos on YouTube.

On Saturday, he finished his dinner and turned as per habit to his phone. He watched some videos and later left for his room.

However, some time later, his parents called out to him. After he did not answer despite multiple summons, they broke into his room and found that he was hanging on a nail with a cloth.

The parents rushed him to a nearby hospital in Mandal Centre but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police have intitated an investigation and will also make a post-mortem examination.
