A policeman dived into the floodwater to rescue two children who were trapped in it. The heroic incident happened in Mansehra’s Khatta area.
The two boys, who were rescued by Mansehra’s Constable Naeemul Salam posted at the Phalra police Station, aged 13 and 14. The two children had gone to cut leaves for the goats when suddenly they were trapped by the flood.
Many areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have received heavy rains as the second spell of monsoon hit the province.
Footage showed that locals helped the policeman dive into the water. They tied a rope around him which he used to bring children from the floodwater.
Hazara DIG Tahir Ayub Khan congratulated Constable Salam for his bravery and announced the award of an appreciation certificate and cash reward for him. Such brave men are the pride of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, he said.
