Bodies of four killed in Greece boat disaster reach Pakistan

The bodies of four Pakistani killed in the Greece boat tragedy on June 14, reached Lahore Airport on Saturday.

The representatives of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation received the bodies brought by the Qatar Airways flight QR 620.

They were onboard an overloaded migrant boat that sank in open seas off Greece on June 14.

Out of the total 750 people on board, there were at least 209 Pakistani on the boat.

The bodies were sent to the deceased migrants’ ancestral homes in OPF ambulances.

The bodies of deceased Arsalan and Abu Bakkar were dispatched to Nowshera Virkan, while Adnan was from Gujrat and Ali Ejaz was a resident of Mandi Bahauddin.

A total of 15 bodies of Pakistani citizens have been identified so far, of which seven have now reached home.

Earlier on Friday, the bodies of three Pakistanis reached the country. They were killed when the migrant ship they boarded sank off the coast of Greece.

The data shared by the Federal Investigation Agency said 181 were from Pakistan and 28 from Pakistan-administered Kashmir, adding that DNA samples from 201 families had been gathered by officials to help Greece identify those missing.
