A fitness influencer was killed while lifting a barbell in Indonesia after it came crashing down onto the back of his neck, Daily Mail reported.
Justyn Vicky, 33, was strength training when he met with the tragic accident on July 15. He was trying to squat-press 210kg at The Paradise Bali gym in Sanur, Indonesia.
The bodybuilder, who was also a nutritional adviser and personal trainer, had around 30,000 Instagram followers. Vicky belonged to East Java, Indonesia.
He died shortly despite an emergency operation as he had a broken neck and critical compression of vital nerves connecting to his heart and lungs.
The British media outlet cited that the bodybuilder was weighed down with the heavy bar when he tied to extend his legs. The heavy barbell made it difficult for him to stand upright.
The lone spotter behind him was helpless as the bodybuilder fell to the floor and the barbell came crashing down onto the back of his neck.
The Paradise gym in Bali, where Vicky was working out before the accident took place, paid tribute to him on social media.
“Justyn was more than just a fitness expert; he was a beacon of inspiration, motivation, and unwavering support,” it wrote on Instagram.
