Dozens of LESCO feeders tripped as rain lashes Lahore

The electricity supply to several areas of Lahore was interrupted on Wednesday after around 45 feeders of Lahore Electric Supply Company tripped as Lahore received heavy rainfall.

The spokesperson of LESCO said that the power supply has been temporarily interrupted amid heavy rains. The field staff of the power utility has been placed on high alert, which will work to restore the electricity supply as soon as rain stops, he added.

Earlier today, at least 11 people were killed after a wall at an under-construction underpass collapsed in the Golra Mor area during heavy rains in Islamabad.

Islamabad and Rawalpindi were hit with heavy rainfall in the morning, with almost 188 millimetres recorded at Shamsabad. Bokra and Golra in Islamabad, and Chaklala in Rawalpindi also received over 100mm of rain.

The second spell of monsoon rains hit Lahore on July 15 which provided the citizen with a sigh of relief from the hot and humid weather. However, the torrential rains increased the hardships of the citizens as rainwater entered houses and damaged infrastructure.

Earlier on July 5, torrential rain in Lahore broke 30-year-old records, resulting in the death of at least seven dwellers across the city.

The rain also caused at least 110 electricity feeders to trip across the city. The LESCO spokesperson said that rains were further complicating efforts to restore electricity.
