A government officer in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, was caught red-handed by anti-corruption officials while accepting a bribe.
Anto corruption officials received a complaint by a man named Rameshwar Prasad Yadav saying that his organisation had been asked to pay a bribe.
The allegations had been levelled at Mithali Sharma, an assistant registrar of the cooeprative department. Sharma has undertaken a surprise inspection Koderma Vyapar Sahyog Samiti and found that there was discrepancies in the data.
She had offered the organisation to turn a blind eye and not take action against them if they paid her Rs20,000 as a bribe.
On July 7, the team put a surveillance mechanism in place and managed to catch Sharma in the act as she accepted the first bribe installment of Rs10,000.
A video of the arrest also went viral on social media. An investigation is underway.
