Karachi police arrests daughter for killing father during heated exhange

The Karachi Police have arrested a daughter accused of killing her father Atiqur Rehman Memon, 53, with a sharp knife at his house in Lalazar Society in the jurisdiction of Docks Police Station, police said.

The suspect, Hiba, 27 seems to have accidently killed her father on Monday after getting into a domestic dispute, they added.

The police have also recovered the murder weapon and shifted the suspect to women lockup, the police stated.

The police filed a first information report under the Section 302 (Punishment of qatl-i-amd) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the deceased’s brother Aneesur Rehman complaint, who handed his niece to the police.

In his complaint, Rehman said that he was informed on Monday that his brother has been taken to Civil Hospital in critical condition.

“I went to his house after completing the procedures in the hospital, where I found out that my brother had gotten into a domestic dispute. During the fight, my niece, Hiba wounded him by stabbing him with a knife,” he added.

The police said that the suspect will be produced before the court tomorrow (Wednesday) before she is interrogated.

Memon, a Grade 18 officer and acting manager in KPT, was living with his second wife and her children; along with three children of his late first wife in a flat in Lalazar.

The decease wife’s children got into a fight with and his second wife’s children, the police said, adding that during the fight the deceased beat the daughter who tried to defend herself by using a kitchen knife, resulting in the killing of Memon.

The neighbors of the deceased said that he would get into fights with children continuously and would scold them.
