PTI leader arrested at border fleeing to Afghanistan

Landikotal: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested Abdul Basit Chaudhry, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, at the Torkham border crossing when he was attempting to flee to Afghanistan.

Abdul Basit Chaudhry, who held a prominent position within the PTI, was reportedly planning to travel through Afghanistan en route to Europe. The FIA authorities received intelligence about his plans to escape the country, prompting them to take immediate action.

In coordination with local police, the FIA officials successfully intercepted Abdul Basit Chaudhry at the Torkham border crossing on Friday.

PSL corruption

The exact reasons behind Abdul Basit Chaudhry’s attempted escape remain unclear at this time. However, sources suggest that he was facing scrutiny and potential legal consequences in relation to his involvement in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

It is believed that his name had surfaced in an ongoing investigation conducted by the FIA regarding alleged irregularities and corruption in the PSL.

Abdul Basit Chaudhry is now in the custody of the FIA, and he will be produced before a court of law to face charges related to his attempted escape.
