Sikhs protest outside RAW office in Amritsar

Sikh protests over the killing of a Khalistan leader reached a new ptich on Wednesday as a demonstration was organised infront of the RAW office in Amritsar.

The protestors accuse the Research and Analysis Wing, India’s premier spy agency, of being behind the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a leader of the Khalistan Tiger Force. Nijjar was killed in Canada on June 18.

The protestors raised slogans against RAW and said it was involved in extra-judicial killing of Sikh leaders in the country. Apart from the intelligence agency, protestors also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Foreign Minister Jai Shankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval of being involved in the murder

The protestors demanded that Nijjar’s killers should be arrested immediately.

Protests by Sikh affiliated with the Khalistan movement have intensified since the arrest of Amritpal Singh in April.

Protests by the Khalistan movement have taken place twice at the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, with the building even being set on fire in the second protest. In February, 60,000 sikhs voted in favour of Khalistan in Brisbane, Australia. Sikh protestors also raised the Khalistan flag at the Indian High Commission in London.

The protestors have stepped up pressure on Modi as well and even protested on his recent visit to the United States.
